Carnival is the embodiment of what Feelin Fah Fete are all about, it is a momentous celebration of freedom, unity and togetherness but beyond this, carnival has a very deep history and is a significant part of many caribbean islands. People recognise the carnival for its music, exciting costumes and general celebration but do sometimes forget or overlook what is actually being celebrated or how this celebration came about. Carnival is an integral part of caribbean identiy as a signifyer of the abolishment of slavery and emancipation, free slaves would mock the traditions of their masters and parade the streets forming mini carnivals and encorparating their own rituals and traditions to the celebrations. Carnival has become expression and art form conveying all aspects of humanity but ultimatley that of freedom and togetherness.
